CCCB - Second card for Halloween with Distressing

It is the final week of the monthly challenge at Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog.  The challenge this month has been  Halloween with Distressing.  The challenge will run until midnight on Wednesday 31st October so you still have some time to take part.

Our sponsor for challenge 9 is Limited Runs Digital Stamps.  Be sure to give them a visit and thank them.

Here is my card.  I have kept my card rather simple this time and away from the usual scary type images that we usually associate with Halloween. I would have liked to have coloured the cat in better.  I was inspired by the colouring of this amazing card.  I would love to be able to colour as well as this.  I watched a tutorial on You Tube to learn how to colour things in black and include shading, but I only had black and one grey colour, so I couldn't achieve the result I wanted and I had to settle for this.

Supplies:
Image: Smoochie cat from The Stamping Boutique (Sentiment - computer generated)
Markers: SU markers – Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Regal Rose
Card stock: Orange and black
Other: Brads, SU Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Black and White Twine,

Please have a look and see what other DT members have created.

I look forward to seeing you again soon with our new challenge next month.

Thanks for dropping by and for your comments.

Embellies with a Twist - Birthday Celebration

We had fun in the weekend with The Crafter's Cafe's 3rd birthday and the live chat.  I was able to take part for a while before I headed out to take my kids to a birthday party.  It may have been on during the evening in some parts of America, but it was Sunday afternoon here in New Zealand.

We also have some new challenges as part of the birthday celebration.  Have a look at some great examples and take part yourself.  I am not sure when they need to be done by, so I will get back to you on that one.

Now back to this week's Embellies with a Twist challenge - Birthday Celebration

Here is my card which features the TSB colours and also fits the embellies with a twist theme as it three gems embellishments.

Supplies
Image:  Digi image Tulips from The Stamping Boutique

Other: Spellbinder circle dies, copics, gems, Sizzix plaid embossing folder

Happy 3rd Birthday The Crafter's Cafe!

I hope you can visit us at The Crafter's Cafe and take part in some way.

Embellies with a Twist at TCC - Anything Goes

It is the end of the month and we have another "Anything Goes" theme for our Monday Embellies with a Twist challenge.  We would love for you to join us at The Crafter's Cafe and take part.

My card features the colours from The Play Date Cafe - Challenge #142

Here is the card:

I coloured my image using the pink copic and a the celeste blue ink and cut it out.  I inked the inside of the happy birthday embossing folder with the celeste blue ink using a brayer, added the white card stock and put it through my cuttlebug.  I matted this onto the pink card (the edge coloured with my pink copic marker as I didn't have the right pink and that way it matched the pink on the cupcake).  I added my twine and then mounted this onto the yellow card.  I adhered the cupcake image using dimensionals and added some glossy accents on the cherry, ribbon and hearts to give a bit more dimension to the cupcake.

Supplies:
Image: The Stamping Boutique -  Cupcake digital image
Cardstock: Yellow and white
Ink: Celeste blue impress ink
Other: Cuttlebug happy birthday folder, pink and white twine, glossy accents, Copics, RV02, Pen nibs,

It is also The Crafter's Cafe's 3rd birthday and on Saturday 11th August there will be a huge birthday celebration.

Hope to see you there.

Have a great week.

Embellies with a Twist at TCC - Red, white and blue

This post is a few days late.  It has been busy with the school holidays and so I wasn't able to make the card in time or post it on Monday.  So here it is now.  Better late than never.

The colours of the card - red, white and blue are inspired by the Embellies with a Twist challenge at The Crafter's Cafe.  We would love to have you join us and take part in our challenges.

I decided to use the sketch at Card Patterns #172 for my design.  Unfortunately this is the last sketch for Card Patterns.  Due to family commitments and things, the blog is coming to an end.  This is the third blog I have enjoyed following and taking part in their challenges that is coming to a close.  A few months ago there was Wee Memories and then more recently, Lily Pad Cards.  I can imagine that a lot of time and effort goes into these challenges blogs (probably more than most of us realise) and I can appreciate that sometimes a good thing has to end and other priorities like family, need to come first. I know that even I struggle to get to my blog sometimes and that wouldn't be as much work as running a challenge blog.  So thank you for all of you who run the challenge blogs.

I am also entering this in the Casual Friday challenge CFC59 - Round and round - Use 2 circles.

Supplies:

Image: Tulips digital stamp from The Stamping Boutique
Stamps: HA Happy Birthday
Patterned Paper: Cre8tiv
Other: Copics, Red and white twine, Small heart punch from Stamping Up,

Tonight was a special night.   We had a formal evening at our church, City Impact Church, celebrating its 30th birthday - today!  A very special occasion.  I have been at the church for 20 of those years.  I have seen a lot of changes and growth.  I have been blessed in so many ways by the church, including meeting my husband there.  Click here if you are interested in seeing a video about the 30 years of City Impact Church.

Thanks for dropping by and for your comments.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

Embellies with a Twist at TCC - Layers

This week's challenge at The Crafter's Cafe is to make a card with layers and of course include embellishments.  We would love you to take part and join us with this challenge.  Remember that you do need to register and become a new member of the forum if you wish to take part.  I forgot to log in first last week and so my card appeared as a guest.  I will remember from now on.

I often like to include layers, so I had lots of fun with this challenge.  Here is the card I created, using purples, one of the colours I really like to use in my cards.

IMG_2477

To create the background I stamped the flower in black ink onto the purple card (Thanks Dawn for sharing this technique of creating your own background).  I embossed the lilac card and cut a panel and adhered it to the purple card and added the ribbon.  I printed my image, coloured it with copics, added the Hello sentiment.  I then matted it onto the dark pink card to match the main colour of the card.  Lastly I added the kindy glitz.

Supplies:
Image: The Stamping Boutique - Flower Cart (On sale for $2 instead of $3)
Stamp: Flower stamp from Simon Says (from a  goodie bag prize from A Blog Named Hero, HA Hello stamp
Ink: Versafine black ink
Cardstock: Purple, lilac, bright pink, white
Other: Cuttlebug floral screen embossing folder, ribbon, kindy glitz, copics

Thanks again for stopping by.

Have a great week.
