Three cards for three special people

I needed three cards for some special friends of ours who have three birthdays within four days. They are friends from out of Auckland.  The husband and wife have their birthdays a day a part and their daughter is  is only two days before that.

The first card I made is for the daughter who is turning 11. I used the side spring style card, or as another card making friend calls it the diamond corner card.  I thought cupcakes, pink and purple is a good combination for a girl.

The second one is for my wonderful friend who I would love to see more, but since they live about 4 1/2 hours away, we only get to catch up a couple of times a year.  This is not actually a new card, but one I made a while ago (so you may recognise it from an earlier posting).  I made it when I went through a stage of making shaped cards and I have kept in my stash of cards.  I thought it would be a lovely, special card for her.

Lastly the husband is turning 40 so I thought I would make a twisted card as it creates a pocket inside, perfect to hold a voucher which we sent him for his milestone birthday.

Here is the pocket it creates inside.

By the way, I am holding a class this coming weekend on the North Shore which will show you how to make this twisted card, although it will be in a Christams theme.  Please contact me if you are interested in coming.

Thanks again for stopping by.

Have a great week.

CCCB - Second card for Halloween with Distressing

It is the final week of the monthly challenge at Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog.  The challenge this month has been  Halloween with Distressing.  The challenge will run until midnight on Wednesday 31st October so you still have some time to take part.

Our sponsor for challenge 9 is Limited Runs Digital Stamps.  Be sure to give them a visit and thank them.

Here is my card.  I have kept my card rather simple this time and away from the usual scary type images that we usually associate with Halloween. I would have liked to have coloured the cat in better.  I was inspired by the colouring of this amazing card.  I would love to be able to colour as well as this.  I watched a tutorial on You Tube to learn how to colour things in black and include shading, but I only had black and one grey colour, so I couldn't achieve the result I wanted and I had to settle for this.

Supplies:
Image: Smoochie cat from The Stamping Boutique (Sentiment - computer generated)
Markers: SU markers – Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Regal Rose
Card stock: Orange and black
Other: Brads, SU Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Black and White Twine,

Please have a look and see what other DT members have created.

I look forward to seeing you again soon with our new challenge next month.

Thanks for dropping by and for your comments.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog - Halloween with Distressing

Welcome to my first creation for The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog (known as CCCB for short) with their challenge Halloween with Distressing - Challenge #9

Our sponsor is Limited Runs Digis.

This was a challenge for me.  I have never made a Halloween card before and I am not a huge fan of Halloween however I wanted to make a card for my new role on the design team.  I grew up not doing anything for Halloween and I guess here in New Zealand we don't celebrate it quite as much as they do in America.  In New Zealand some children dress up and go "trick or treating", but that was something I was never allowed to do and my own children don't do it either.  I don't like the idea of dressing up in scary costumes and going around the neighbourhood asking for lollies.  So my card has stayed away from the traditional witches, ghosts and scary things and I have gone for something more neutral.  It is something else I think of when it comes to Halloween - Pumpkins.

Here is my creation.

Supplies:
Image: Pumkin Patch from Limited Runs Digis
Markers: Stampin' Up Marker pens
Stamps: Leaf stamp set - not sure of the name
Cardstock: White, orange and black
Other: Distressing tool

Come along and see what others in the Design Team have made.

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog would love to have you join us with this challenge and create a Halloween project and include some distressing.  There are no limits, you can use any images, die cuts, etc... and can make anything you like, cards, ATCs, minis, etc...
Remember you have until midnight on 31st October to submit your creations.

Thanks for dropping by and for your comments.

A new role for me at The Crafter's Cafe

Sorry that I have not had a post for a while.  The Crafter's Cafe decided to re-look at its Daily Challenges as there didn't seem to be a lot of involvement in them, so they have not been happening for the past few weeks.  They already had The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog and so now more focus will be put into this as well as our big chat events which happen every few months.

This means I will no longer be making cards for the Monday Embellies with a Twist Challenge, but instead I am part of one of the Design Teams for The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog.  They have a month long challenge, with two teams.  One team creates samples week 1 & 3, and the other team, week 2 & 4.  I am part of Design Team B, so come back this Wendesday and see my creation.

This month's challenge is "Halloween with Distressing"  You can already see what Design Team A have created.

Remember to take part you need to be a member of The Crafter's Cafe.

I hope to see you again on Wednesday.

Have a great week.

September Chat at TCC

Hi,

Sorry for the lack of posting recently.  There are some changes ahead for the daily challenges at The Crafter's Cafe, so that is why recently I haven't been posting each Monday.  More details will follow in the future.

This Saturday (22nd September) at 7-10pm Eastern time (Sunday afternoon here in New Zealand) we have our monthly/bi-monthly chat.  Please pop along and join us in the discussions.  A challenge will be posted during the chat which you will have time after the chat to take part it.  I think usually you have about a week to take part.  Remember you do need to be a member, so please join up if you haven't already done so.

Enjoy your weekend.
